The fashion week was opened by designer Jana Horejšová with her MEMBRANE collection, presented under her On the Boat brand. Actress Ivana Chýlková briefly took over the spotlight as she made her modelling debut, but attention was certainly warranted, as the collection offered plenty of interesting details. From flip-flops, which were surely appreciated not only by the male and female models walking the catwalk, to various accessories.
On the second day of fashion week, students from Liberec and Zlín took centre stage. Designer Yauheni Bisiuk explored mathematics in his collection Dimensions.
„Is mathematics a description of reality, or is reality itself mathematically structured?“
the accompanying text asks. Something like this had never appeared at fashion week before. It only confirms the fact that fashion and fashion week can also be an intellectual affair. The subsequent collections by Terezie Kožíšková and Zuzana Hliněná were no less surprising. Designer Terezie Kožíšková took us back to her childhood and conceived her designs as clothes for dolls. Zuzana Hliněná took us even further into the past, to the era of the previous generation, reflecting on the question of what the strength of a generation actually means. However, she was not the only designer to draw inspiration from previous generations, as we would discover later.
The evening belonged to the winner of the Mattoni Young Fashion Stars 2026 competition, Barbora Kotěšovcová. With her collection, she transported us into abandoned office spaces with a touch of horror. The following collection by Petra Balvin also remained within the world of office fashion. Her designs emphasised femininity, which had previously remained somewhat in the background of the collections. But the real highlight came with the arrival of designer Hana Valtová. Details such as bow-adorned hairstyles were enchanting, and the collection was received very positively by the audience.
The final day of fashion week began with another exploration of the influence of previous generations, undertaken by Tomáš Višňovský in his Motherland collection. Trauma, the weight of the past, brutalism — all of this could be sensed throughout the show.
Next came graduates and students of UMPRUM. Designer Anna Dunděrová, for example, presented an interpretation inspired by the fashion of Marie Antoinette’s era, while Kryštof Bača explored the arrival of an extraterrestrial being and earned the main prize in the Vogue CS Talent 2026 competition with his collection. The UMPRUM presentations were brought to a close by designer Markéta Hájková, whom I also interviewed. Her URBAN collection draws on her family history of tailors in Rychnov nad Kněžnou.
The entire Mercedes-Benz Prague Fashion Week was therefore connected by a theme of personal exploration, vision, and a return to the past — allowing something to emerge in the present that can transcend the trends attacking us from all sides.
